| Henry |
Henry without a doubt is a remarkable lad. When we came across him for the first time he was malnourished, had fungal wounds on his scalp as a result of intense scratching and leaving the infection untreated for a long time. He was hungry having survived a week on porridge only.Like all young, growing boys, Henry has a good appetite, and Elizabeth jokes, rolling with laughter of joy, that Henry and food are the best of friends. Henry is no stranger to mischief but this is his way of seeking for attention, which he craves for, all the time. As Elizabeth would soon find out, young Henry was proud of her, especially she comes to pick him up from school. The young lad had prayed for someone to call "mum" and he got that with Elizabeth. It comes with no surprise that he is shaping up to become a very responsible boy who follows instructions to the letter. Elizabeth says that in the morning, Henry is normally the first to take a shower - and she doesn't have to force him to shower. However, after 2 hours, you cannot tell whether he showered or not. "Boys will always be boys.." she adds with a warm smile. Henry struggles with languages but the young lad knows how to add up numbers and does it with so much ease. Teachers in his school recently awarded him a "Certificate of Most Improved Pupil" - which caught most of Musa House by surprise. Henry is passionate about football and his only football is worn out and is in need of replacement. Most recently the children have adopted a cat and made it a small house to stay in, around the Musa House dwellings. At 10 years of age, the young boy has taken up small scale farming and Elizabeth is astounded to find onions and other vegetables growing at the backyard of the rented house. With the head fungal wounds healed, Henry is more joyful and playful as ever, which is breathtaking to see as he reclaims back his childhood. Second to Football, Henry loves to read out loud stories and watch cartoons on Television. He very much appreciates the stability Musa House has offered and is grateful that for now he will not shift from house to house as was previously the case in his young life.

This is an amazing story of baby Jacqueline Awuor; her mum passed away when she was only 9 days old, her granny took her and being of such a tender age, all the food she knew was milk and so Granny Rosa started breastfeeding her. Amazingly, at her age (65) she produced milk which baby jacqueline has been suckling on for 3 years now.
